Barbara Cloyes Turcotte, 76, daughter of Gilbert and Doris (Matheson) Cloyes, passed away in Greensboro, NC on January 21, 2026. Born August 16, 1949, she had a wonderful childhood growing up with her sister in Baldwinsville, New York. After graduating from Charles W Baker High School, she attended Saint Lawrence University and become a supporter of their hockey and basketball programs. Post education, she established her career in the insurance industry. Opportunity brought her to Rhode Island and then to Connecticut, where she met her husband of over 40 years, Normand Turcotte.
Friends and family remember her as Bobbie. We will never forget her kind, friendly soul. She was outgoing, thoughtful, empathetic and was a model individual of her Christian faith. She was an active member of her church in Connecticut; knitting items for those in need and participating in the bell choir. She will be remembered as the ultimate taco chef. Family vied to fit just one more amazing taco into their full stomachs. She made Christmas special with her cookies and trail mix; traditions that have been passed down through the generations. She was an avid sports fan, attending Olympic games, enjoying baseball games at Fenway Park with family and traveling across the country to cheer on the UCONN women’s basketball team at final four games. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking extended drives in their corvettes to view nature. She cherished excursions and time spent with her granddaughters and grandnieces/nephew.
Left with transformative life memories are her son, Scott (Elissa) Turcotte of Vernon, CT, her nephew Jason (Maria) Urbanski of Mahopac, NY and her nephew Bret (Cynthia) Urbanski of Charlotte, NC. Also appreciative of memories and time spent with Bobbie are her granddaughters Charlotte & Elaina Turcotte and her grandnieces/nephew Mackenzie (Rahul) Menon, Mason Urbanski, Sophia Urbanski and Olivia Urbanski.
Bobbie was predeceased by her husband, Normand Turcotte, her son, Todd Turcotte, and her sister & brother-in-law Leslie and Frank Urbanski.
The family offers thanks and gratitude to the staff at Griswold Home Care for their compassion and care for Bobbie in her final stage of life. Through their friendship and support, Bobbie was able to maintain her independence to maximize her life experience. We will be forever grateful.
Final arrangements will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC, 130 West Main Street, Plainville, CT 06062.
