Barbara S. MacMillan

Barbara S. MacMillan was born Barbara Sue Schroeder on June 4, 1928 to Charles S. and Marion Outwater Schroeder, in Michigan. She passed away on March 31, 2011 at the Palliative Care Center of Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, from complications due to pneumonia. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, 2:00 pm at the Jamestown United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Watford officiating.

She was a much-beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her family, including Susan J. MacMillan and husband Tim Browning of Portland, Oregon; Mary MacMillan Platek and husband Allen Platek and four children: Kellyn, Michael, Tessa, and Sara of Jamestown, North Carolina; Anne V. MacMillan and husband Steve Cavey of Hagerstown, Maryland; and sister, Mrs. Mary Schroeder Horen of Columbus, Ohio.

Barbara was a member of the Jamestown Methodist Church for many years, and enjoyed a serene life in North Carolina with many good friends after moving here in 2003 from Ohio. She loved playing cards with friends, mystery novels, and crossword puzzles, and liked hanging out with her grandchildren. She was married to Donald C. MacMillan for 46 years, until his passing in 2001. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church on Saturday.
