Billy Joe “BJ” was born on December 16, 1941, in Valdese, NC, the son of Joseph Samuel Harris and Annie Mae Gilbert Harris.
BJ and his wife Elizabeth were members of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and growing plants. BJ and Elizabeth were very active ballroom dancers with Club 75. Through the years they frequented many of the restaurants around Greensboro and you would always see them together.
In addition to his parents, BJ was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth as well as his brothers, Dr. Jimmy Harris and Paul Harris.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Dr. Kirk Harris (Johanna) of Washington, NC and Craig Harris (Emelyn) of Greensboro; sister, Brenda Arney (James) of Morganton, NC; grandchildren, Luke and Sidney Harris, Danielle Howle, Ava and Briana Harris.
The family asks with gratitude that memorials in BJ’s name be made to Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church, 314 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
