Carl Cyril Maruzzella, a devoted son, father, husband, and grandfather, died Wednesday November 8, 2023, at Wesley Long Hospital. Carl, the son of the late Cyril and Gloria Maruzzella, was born July 27, 1947, in Bronx, N.Y. and grew up in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was a gifted athlete and a member of the Salesian High School basketball team. After graduating New Rochelle High School, Carl served in the Vietnam War and was a proud U.S. Army veteran.
Without a doubt, Carl's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Charlotte Kaye Maruzzella of Greensboro NC, his son Greg and wife Erin Maruzzella of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Laura Maruzzella and husband Michael Townsend of Greensboro, NC, and cherished granddaughter Lucy. He was Uncle Carl to many nieces and nephews, and is survived by many cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
Carl had a smile and a hug for everyone he met and was full of love and laughter. He was a charismatic storyteller who never met a stranger. He spent his career working for the United States Postal Service where he made many friends and retired after 26 years of service. He enjoyed listening to music, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family enjoying a good cup of coffee. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
One of Carl's favorite things to do was to share a delicious meal with loved ones. To celebrate his life, a gathering for family and friends will be held December 22 from 4:30-8:00pm at Café Pasta in Greensboro NC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Carl's life.
