

Carlton Paddison Collins was born January 9, 1930 in Kernersville, to Howard and Grace Bailey Collins. Carlton was one of 10 children and spent his early years after high school attending Holmes Bible College in Greenville, SC and Elon College in Burlington. Carlton was and always has been active in church and Christian Ministry. Teaching and reading the bible was his passion.
Carlton spent the majority of his career in retail grocery working for Bestway Supermarket, Food World and Harris Teeter Supermarkets in Greensboro.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Collins of the home; one son, Pastor Phillip Collins and his wife Marie Collins of Jamestown; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two sisters, Reba Britt of Sanford and Teresa Scott and her husband Joe of Pleasant Garden.
A Service to Celebrate Carlton’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at DaySpring Church, 1941 Vanstory St., Greensboro, NC 27403 conducted by Pastors, Phil Collins, Blake Collins and Jeff Smith. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Vanstory Chapel, 1900 Vanstory St., Greensboro, NC 27403 on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made in Carlton’s memory to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27455.
