A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Westover Church in room W201, 505 Muirs Chapel Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410, from 3:00 until 7:00 pm.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, friend, and confidant—a beautiful lady, kind soul, and loving person. Her life’s calling and greatest joy and emphasis revolved around her children and their families. She had a gift of making each one of her children feel special and loved, and was always there for all who needed her. Her laughter was contagious and when she smiled, her eyes danced. She was charming, quick witted and really fun to be around.
She travelled throughout her life through the US and abroad, always learning and enjoying people. She was a housemother for international ice skaters from Australia, Japan, Vietnam, and Germany as well as from other states in the US—always treating these skaters as her own children.
Her last work took her to the Guilford County Schools where she worked directly with Chaz Erwin—where she became close friends and like a grandmother.
She has left behind her children and their families: Laurie Eakes (Marshall) of Greensboro, and their sons, Zach of Beaufort, NC and Eric of Miami, FL ; Elyse Schmoyer (Laurren) of Greensboro, and their families—Robert Harmon (Jackie) of Alaska and their sons, Max, Nicola, Oskar, and Viggo; Alexis Matthews of Florida; Jessica Waldbauer (Brian) of Greensboro, and their children, Ashlyn, Colin, Deklin; Amber Schmoyer of Greensboro; Philip Curtiss of Rocky Mount, and his children, Eden and Gemma; Elizabeth Curtiss-Cabbel (Jay) of Greensboro and their daughter Fynnley; Edward Spade (Linda) of Florida; brothers, William R. Spade ( Becky) of Fayetteville, NC and David Spade (Tina) of Barnegat, NJ.
