Carole was born in 1932 to the late George and Sudie Williams. Preceding her in death was husband of 34 years, Joseph Mezzapelli and brothers, John and Bill Williams. Surviving are step daughters, Brenda Mezzapelli, Cheryl Skillaris and Joy Mezzapelli; nephew, Mike Williams; nieces, Carole Long and Lesa Kolcun, along with many grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.
Carole grew up in Greensboro and graduated with honors from Greensboro High. She received a B.S. degree in Physical Education from UNC Women's College, a Masters degree from UNC Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Education from UNCG.
Carole retired as a professor of physical education and early childhood development at Buffalo State College. In addition she was an editor, talented artist, pianist and athlete. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, camping and fishing.
Carole was active in Calvary Church and Greensboro Adult & Teen Challenge. She and Joe were able to share the Gospel as short term mission workers many times in Russia.
A celebration of Carole's life will be at 10:30 AM, December 28, 2025 at River Landing where she and Joe called home for many years.
