Carolyn Walker Watson passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Hospice House of High Point. Born in Guilford County, NC on March 20, 1935, she was the daughter of Garmond A. Walker and Edith Owens Walker. Carolyn was a military wife and traveled all over the US and Japan with her husband, Bert. After Bert’s retirement from the military, they established their roots in Greensboro. For many years, Carolyn was a dedicated office manager at Tobacco USA. Upon retiring, Carolyn and Bert traveled the country in their RV, which was her passion. Carolyn adored her grandchildren, and the beach which was her happy place. She enjoyed square dancing, working in her garden and bird watching.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bertram M. Watson. Carolyn is survived by her three daughters, Pamela Watson of Terre Haute, IN; Jennie Watson Patnode of Southern Pines; and Kristy Cline, who resides in High Point, NC, with her husband Jeff. Affectionately known as Mema to her eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, she shared with them her love of the ocean, collecting seashells and crafting. Mema and her grandkids spent most summers near the beach, teaching them to play different card games or how to drive a golf cart. She loved a good puzzle.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Westchester Manor at Providence Place, who provided exceptional care for Carolyn over the past three years. Also, to the tender support offered by the wonderful nurses from Hospice Home at High Point during her final days.
A private Celebration of her Life will be held with her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is honored to serve the Watson family.
