Cathy Howard Johnson

Cathy, formerly a resident of her beloved Campobello, SC passed away at Beacon Place Hospice in Greensboro, NC on May 25, 2025.

Cathy was the daughter of Everett and Margaret Howard and was a 1978 graduate of Landrum High School. While she was there, she was crowned Miss Cardinal. She earned an Associate's degree from Spartanburg Methodist College and was employed for several years at Spartan Mills. She married the love of her life, Terry Gene Johnson, on April 3rd, 1982. In her later years, she worked for Circle K stores and was a much-loved fixture of their Exit 5 location. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

Cathy is predeceased by her husband, Terry, parents, and sister Shirley Howard. She is survived by her sister Sheila Harrell (Joe) of Faith, NC, brother Butch Howard of Campobello, SC, son Matt Johnson (Sheryl Mann) of Gaffney, SC, son Heath Johnson (Mia Wood) of Salisbury, NC, daughter Hannah Lovelace (Alex) of Greensboro, NC. She poured so much love into her grandchildren, Phoenix and Everett Lovelace, and her many nieces and nephews.

In honor of Cathy, please think of her relaxing at the beach, watching her kids enjoy the waves. She’s at Lake Adger enjoying the houseboat her daddy built. She’s in the mountains, and on the back of a motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway with Terry. Think of her out at lunch with Sheila and their girlfriends. Catching up on the phone with her brother Butch. She’s watching her children grow up with immense pride and joy in their happiness. Remember her cradling her grandbabies on her lap. Think of her at home in her momma's kitchen, surrounded by her entire family. A celebration of life event will be held at a future time.
