November 7, 1959-February 19, 2026
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we share the passing of Cathy Kelly McClellan, who went home to Jesus on February 19, 2026 at the age of 66.
Cathy was a woman whose life was defined by service, strength, and unwavering love. She was, at her core, a caregiver — not simply by title, but by calling. It was ministry in motion. She believed in showing up — consistently, compassionately, and without complaint. She understood that teamwork builds resilience, that practical help restores dignity, and that emotional care can change a life. Many were strengthened because she stood beside them.
But beyond her service to others, Cathy loved deeply and fiercely. She was a devoted follower of Jesus, carrying her faith not only in words but in action. Scripture shaped her outlook. Prayer anchored her. Grace guided her. She trusted God through every season — especially the hard ones.
She was a proud mother to her son, Joshua Scott, who was one of the great joys of her life. She was a beloved daughter to Jack & Judith Kelly, a cherished sister to Deborah Ferlic [Joe], Steve Kelly [Kelly], Tim Kelly [Jen], and an aunt of seven who showed up with open arms and steady encouragement. She was a widow to her late husband, Don McClellan.
To know her was to witness strength wrapped in kindness. She was a fighter in every sense — enduring illness, hardship, and heartbreak with courage and quiet determination. Yet her strength never hardened her. It made her more compassionate.
She was also deeply gifted in the arts. Her creativity flowed through crafting, handmade gifts, and projects shared both in her professional life and with those she loved. Her art was an extension of her heart.
An avid gardener and lover of nature, she found peace tending the earth and watching life grow. Her legacy is not measured in titles, but in lives touched. In handmade cards & gifts. In prayers whispered. In gardens planted. In love given freely.
A celebration of her life will be held on a later date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Freedom House or Teen Challenge, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Though we grieve her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace — reunited with her husband and resting in the presence of Jesus she loved so dearly.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is honored to serve the McClellan family.
