Our Beloved Mother, Cecilia Bonino, passed away on Saturday, December,7th in Greensboro, N.C. Cecilia was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 15th 1922. She had 4 brothers and one step sister. She died at the age of 91 leaving 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Cecilia married Tom Bonino in the early 1940’s and had 3 children, Patricia, Paul and Anthony. Besides taking loving care of her children, she also opened her heart and home to many other friends of her children who needed a home for an extended period of time.
Her brother George, was also part of the household, and much loved by all. Cecilia also took care of her aging mother for many years.
Cecilia was a devout Catholic who did numerous volunteer work for her community and church. She attended Mass daily. Her faith and devotion to God was exemplified in her everyday life and activities.
To say Cecilia was just a “homemaker” is an understatement. She was much more than that. Cecilia was the epitome of wife, mother and friend who always showed unconditional love to all.
In short there is a quote from a poem that we know she admired: “You can remember her only that she’s gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she’d want:
Smile, open your eyes and heart, love and go on’.
We know Cecilia is at peace and finally “Home”. God bless her and all that she has given us. Lovingly, the Bonino Family
Final note: We will be bringing her remains back to Livonia, Mi. sometime in the spring of 2014. At this time we will have a Memorial Mass dedicated to Cecilia, and a gravesite service next to her husband Tom.
