

Charlie Daniel Wells, 90, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Greensboro, NC. Following Charlie’s wishes, his body was donated to UNC School of Medicine where he will remain in their care as one of their ‘silent teachers’. A private memorial service will be held once his service with UNC is complete.
Charlie was born on December 25, 1934, in Greensboro, NC. He joined the Navy January 3, 1952, and served until December 21, 1955. He served with his brother during the Korean War on the ships USS Albuquerque PF 7 and the USS Lewis DE 535. Charlie married Ida Gray Edwards November 8, 1958. They were married 52 years until her death July 3, 2011. He worked for AT&T for 31 years.
Charlie was preceded in death by his son, David Wells in 2003 and his wife, Ida Gray in 2011. Those left to cherish his memory are daughter, Amanda Smith, husband Greg, granddaughter Caitlin and brother-in-law, Lee Edwards of Decatur, GA along with extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the personnel at Spring Arbor of Greensboro and Hospice of the Piedmont.
