

Dana Rolston Smith, 55, of Jamestown, NC, passed away peacefully May 18 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. Born March 3, 1960, in Naples, FL, Dana was the second child of the late Harold Russell Smith and Margaret Rolston Smith. Dana attended Naples High School and went on to graduate as valedictorian from St. Andrews Academy in Sewanee, TN. He enjoyed acting, music and singing and was a member of the bell choir at Naples Presbyterian Church, played the lead in Oliver at Gulfview Middle School in Naples and sang and played piano. He had fond memories of spending childhood summers in Monteagle TN with family and friends. Dana received a B.S. in physical therapy from the University of Miami and worked as physical therapist for many years in the Greensboro area. He had healing hands and especially enjoyed and excelled working with his elderly patients. He was a member of the Friendly Hills Presbyterian Church and the Gate City Vineyard Christian Fellowship.
Dana married the love of his life, Eula (Walker) Smith on May 14, 1994, and was immensely proud of his children Aaron and Jennifer. He especially enjoyed walks with his family around the neighborhood and on the Greenway trails. Dana was a devoted follower of Jesus and dearly loved the Lord. He was a man with a warm personality and a wonderful sense of humor that he especially shared with his brothers. He will be missed by his family and his cousins, niece, nephews, aunts and uncle and the many friends he made throughout his life. In addition to his wife and his children, he leaves behind three brothers, David (Carol) Smith of Mt. Airy, MD, Pastor Brian (Rebecca) Smith of Frostproof, FL and William (Bibiam) Gutierrez of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by special friend and “Mamita”, Mariela Gutierrez of Naples, FL, and brother and sister-in-law Eric and Eunice Riffell, and nephiew Kenneth Riffell of High Point.
Family visitation will be held at 10am at Friendly Hills Presbyterian Church, 1450 Guilford College Road, Jamestown, NC 27282 and a service, officiated by Pastor Nathan Cline, Pastor Lee O’Hare and Pastor Todd Oakley will begin at 11am to celebrate Dana’s life. Interment at Guilford Memorial Park will follow the service and lunch will be served at the Friendly Hills Presbyterian Church.
