

David Willis Carter, Jr., 94, a resident of Greensboro passed away on Monday October 5, 2015 at the Hospice Home of High Point. Mr. Carter was born May 20, 1921 in Burlington, the son of David Willis Carter, Sr. and Myrtle Thomas Carter.
Mr. Carter was married to Margaret Hogan Carter who preceded him in death. He was later married to Betty Lovette who also preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Carter; an infant brother and infant sister and his two sons, Rex and his son Ricky whose untimely death in 2013 had affected Mr. Carter’s life from that day.
Mr. Carter in his early years worked for the Silver Knit, Amos and Halton Hosiery Mills in High Point. He retired from the hosiery mills and along with his second wife Betty owned and operated the Roselawn Memorial Park in Rockingham County. A veteran, he served in the US Navy as a gunner aboard an LSM.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Carter of Thomasville, sister, Jeanette Carter Chambers of Yorktown, VA; step-sons, Tony Lovette of Richmond, VA, Mark Lovette of Greensboro and his close friends, Harold, Jane, Eric, Chuck, Ronnie, Sara, his neighbor Chris and Ricky’s friends at the Putt Putt.
A Cryptside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407. The family will receive friends at the Mausoleum from 1:00 pm until service time.
