

Deborah Ann Hodgin Hanhan, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at her residence. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard.
Deborah was born August 1, 1950, in Norton, VA. She was the daughter of the late Carl and Ann Hodgin. She was the oldest four children including her sister Tina, and brothers Danny and Samuel.
After attending college, she worked in hospitals as a nurse and enjoyed exploring various places with her best friend Teresa. They lived in Atlanta together and moved to Greensboro in the mid-70s.
In 1980, she met her husband Saliba while living in Greensboro, North Carolina. A chemist from Palestine, he quickly fell in love with her as she frequented a business he owned. They were soon married and had their first child, Easa, followed by Emily and then Omar.
In 1989 Saliba and Deborah opened Jerusalem Market in Sedgefield which served as a hub for gourmet foods, spices, cheeses and wines. It and its sister location continue to be a premier destination in the Triad for an eclectic culinary experience.
She was an amazing mother to her children and cherished by her husband. She will be missed and remembered for the overflowing kindness and love that she bestowed upon her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her husband Saliba Isa Hanhan and brother Danny Hodgin.
She is survived by her children, Easa Saliba William Hanhan (Georgi), Emily Ann Nasifeh Hanhan, and Omar Saliba Robert Hanhan (Leslie); her sister Tina Hodgin, her brother Samuel Hodgin; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
