On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Dennis passed away from his earthly life of 78 years into his perfect eternal Heavenly Life.
Dennis grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Grimsley Senior High School, formally Greensboro Senior High School, in 1964. He attended High Point College and received his B.S. in Business Administration in 1968. He worked in public accounting with A.M. Pullen, a Greensboro public accounting firm, and received his Certification as a Certified Public Accountant in 1972. Soon after, Dennis left public accounting and spent the next 50-plus years of his career in private industry, retiring in 2020 from Shamrock Environmental Corporation in Greensboro, North Carolina.
In 1963, when Dennis was barely 17 years old and cruising at the Boar and Castle in Greensboro, he met his future wife, Joy Noah, who was barely 15. They married four years later to the week on August 19, 1967. In 1969, God blessed them with their first son, Ashley Brannon Snead, and in 1972 another blessing, Avery Barton Snead, came along. For the years of 1972 through 1975, Dennis moved his family to Clearwater, Florida, where he completed a three-year project for a Greensboro based company.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Ruffin Snead, Sr., and Beulah Mae “Boots” Snead, his brother, Jack Earnhardt Snead, and son, Avery Barton Snead.
Left to cherish his memory, Dennis is survived by his wife, Joy Noah Snead, son, Ashley Brannon Snead, twin granddaughters, Conner Grace Snead and Josie Brannon Snead, brother, Charles Wayne Snead, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to the Avery Snead Pre-School Scholarship Fund at Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 1804 Guilford College Road, Jamestown, North Carolina 27282. This scholarship fund was established after Avery’s passing in 2012 to honor his memory and Conner and Josie’s memories as little children in the preschool.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, North Carolina 27407.
