Don was born January 15, 1939 to the late Robert and Abbie Caine in Greensboro. He graduated from High Point College (now High Point University) in August of 1965. He served in the North Carolina Army National Guard from July 1962 until December 1968.
Don and his wife Teresa started C and M products in 1966. In 1968, they incorporated and changed the name to Camco Manufacturing, Inc. Don and Teresa were the only employees until 1968. Camco is now international and has over 1,100 employees with 8 plants in the U.S, China, Thailand and Vietnam.
Don was a loving father and grandfather. He loved a good joke and telling stories. His children and grandchildren will remember him best for his wild made up adventures of Brer rabbit.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters: Dorothy, Edythe, Ruth, Norma, Lois, Marlene, Joanne, Dale, Ernest, Bobby and his twin brother David. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Teresa Bishop Caine, daughter Lisa Caine Cook (Keith) of Greensboro and his son Jonathan Ray Caine (Wendi) of Winston-Salem. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Kate Cook (Patrick), Sam Cook, Ben Caine and Shelby Caine.
Funeral services will be held at Ai Cemetery in Oak Ridge. Due to COVID-19 it will be a small family gathering. Masks and social distancing are requested for this outdoor service. Instead of customary remembrances, the family request with gratitude that memorial contributions be sent to Ai Cemetery, in care of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, 2424 Oak Ridge Road, Oak Ridge, NC 27310.
