

She was preceded by her husband the Honorable Judge John F. Yeattes Jr. and their son James Dorn Yeattes. Surviving children are J. F. “Jeff” Yeattes and Annette Green and their families.
Doris was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High- now Grimsley and Women’s College- now UNC-G. She became a teacher at several schools over time including Bessemer and Lindley in Greensboro. She was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church- now Peace United Church of Christ, from her childhood. She was active there in many roles but mainly with the choir, not just as a member but as director of both children’s and adult choirs over time. She also enjoyed being a member of the Bell Choir. Her church service extended beyond Peace UCC to Church Women United and she served several roles there including treasurer and other organizations.
She also was a member of a local singing troupe The Don Trexler Singers who performed not only at the Greensboro Coliseum auditorium but also did an international tour to Europe in 1970, as well as the Greensboro Oratorio Society.
She beat cancer twice and some other issues as well, her body just wore out.
She enjoyed many activities over the years ranging from target shooting with her pistol in her youth, family camping trips, to bowling, backgammon and crossword puzzles. But most of all, from her youth- reading. She shared that love with her children and to many others. She especially enjoyed Zane Grey westerns.
