Dorothy "Dot" Ferree Davis

Dot Davis joined her Ossie after 9 long years apart Thursday, February 12, 2015. She was the only daughter of James Simpson Ferree and Ulah Bunkameyer Ferree, born Jan. 23, 1923. She was preceded in death by her brother, James S. Ferree, Jr. and her husband of 60 years, Arthur Verne Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Moriah United Methodist Church, 3611 Libety Road, Greensboro, NC with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Dot and Ossie began their life together after she finished Business College and was working for Loughlin Hosery as a motion study expert. Ossie returned from WWII, a decorated hero and they built their first home in Randleman, NC. There they lived for almost 20 years and had a daughter, Jeanne L Davis. To be closer to remaining family, they moved to Lynwood Lakes in 1964 where they lived the lake life for 20 years. After the passing of her beloved parents, they moved to her family home. There she remained happily being a homemaker, devoted to her family, working in her gardens and caring for her church, Moriah Methodist Church. She remained active in her faith and community as long as possible attending church up to a few weeks ago. She passed peacefully in her own home, surrounded by her family.

Dot was lovingly cared for and is survived by her granddaughter, Jessamyn Bailey; daughter, Jeanne Louise Davis; grandson, Zachariah Bailey and son-in-law, Thomas Bailey.

Mrs. Davis will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moriah United Methodist Church, 3611 Liberty Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
