

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Kernersville, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Dorris was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Bethany College in West Virginia and she received her doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a clinical psychologist, specializing in children and families. After working at several medical centers she retired from private practice in Reidsville, NC in 2008.
She was a faithful member of St. Matthews Church where she served on the vestry and many committees. At Pennybyrn she was involved in numerous activities and had many good friends. She also deeply cared for her beloved horses and golden retrievers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and her first husband. She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Matthew) of Toronto, Canada and Megan (David) of Reidsville, NC; sons Tom of Palm City, FL, Don (Dee) of Denton, TX, Pete (Kathy) of West Hills, CA, Tim of Taos, NM and nine grandchildren.
Her family wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Pennybyrn at Maryfield and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for the kind and generous care of their mother.
