

Earl Hubert Jones, 87, a resident of Madison and former resident of the Greensboro area passed away on Monday February 5, 2018 at his home in Madison. He was born February 18, 1930 in Miami, FL the son of Hubert Tillman and Myrtle Maggie Marie Benzing Jones.
Earl was retired from the U.S. Navy serving from 1949 to 1972. He was an active member of Shinning Light Baptist Church until his health began to fail. He served as a church Deacon, a former member of the choir and was a handyman for the church. He enjoyed working with his hands.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Arlen, Carl, Donald and Glenn Jones.
Surviving are his wife Nancy Ann Mende Jones of the home; one daughter, Karen Marie Jones Williams and husband Mickey Mabe of Madison; two sons, James Earl Jones and wife Leslie of Virginia Beach, VA, Paul Henry Jones and wife Shelia of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Mark Jones and wife Theresa of Greensboro, Curtis Jones of SC; six grandchildren, Danny Jones, April Marie Sneed, Joshua Thomas Williams, Tiffany Williams, Debbie Jones, David Jones and great grandchildren, Chase Jones, Deavin Sneed, Denise Sneed, Branden Williams, Aiden Clark, Wyatt Clark, Skyler Clark, Josh Williams, Haley Wooten and Bryant Smith.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Shinning Light Baptist Church Cemetery, 4538 West Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409 conducted by Earl’s grandson, Pastor Josh Williams and assisted by Pastor Ted Cooke. The family will receive friends at Shinning Light Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until service time
