Edgar Wyatt Knight Sr.

Edgar Wyatt Knight, Sr., 93, a resident of Countryside Village died Wednesday evening July 6, 2011. Mr. Knight was born August 4, 1917 in Guilford Co. the son of Carl and Pearl Ballinger Knight. He was a member of the Guilford College Fire Department and was a prominent dairy farmer and had lived in the Guilford College Community area his entire life until moving to Countryside Manor. Mr. Knight was a member of Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church. He loved to fish and hunt.

Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sally Knight House.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Sara McNairy Knight of Countryside Village; one daughter, Martha Knight Johnson and husband James of Brown Summit; one son, Edgar "Eddie" Wyatt Knight, Jr. and wife Gwen of Greensboro; one brother, Cleo Knight of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Allen Kimbro and wife Jennifer of Gibsonville, Kerri Shirley and husband Chris of Jamestown, Bryan Knight and wife Jackie of Rougemont, Amy Knight of Greensboro and four great grandchildren, Spencer and Kyle Kimbro, Graysen and Adam Shirley.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at New Gardens Friends Cemetery conducted by Reverend Vance W. Lowe. Mr. Knight will remain at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm Chapel for friends that may wish to visit and sign his register.
