

Edwin “Lucky” Battle Denny passed away peacefully at home in Euless, TX on his birthday, December 15th, at the age of 87. Ed loved golfing, hunting, traveling and spending time at his ranch in St. Joe, TX.
Many friends called Ed “Lucky” during High School. He attended University School in Cleveland, OH for 9th and 10th grade and completed High School at New Trier HS in Winnetka, IL, “Class of 1953”. He was an avid supporter of both schools, attending many reunions and enjoyed many life long friendships from both.
Ed graduated from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY (“class of 1957”) and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity as well as the Air Force ROTC. He went on to become a pilot in the US Air Force, flying C-123’s and C-130’s, serving for 25 years. Ed served 2 “TDY” Tours in Vietnam in 1962 and 1967. He then provided 10 years of service as a flight inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Frank Wright, Louisville, TN, and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Laurie Denny, Grapevine, TX, who took special care of Ed for many years. Grandchildren include Sam, Jake and James Wright and Sarah and John Denny. The family would like to thank Tracy Gibbs, Opal Williams and Paulette Franklin for their exceptional care provided to Ed the last few years.
Ed was a lover of animals, especially dogs and horses. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a favorite rescue organization. A graveside service will be held on December 27th, 2pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, NC through Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home.
