She was a native of Bethania, NC and returned there to live for most of her later years.
Mrs. Callahan graduated from Old Town School and worked in a variety of jobs, most involving child care or pediatric health care. After her retirement, she volunteered as a docent at Historic Bethabara Park. She also enjoyed making Moravian beeswax candles and serving with her sisters as a diener at Bethania Moravian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nellie Strupe, and by her three sisters: Frances S. Conrad, Edith S. Henderson, and Mary S. Conrad.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Callahan and Gaylor Callahan, both of Greensboro, her brother-in law, H. Joe Conrad, and by many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at Bethania Moravian Church in the near future.
