Elizabeth "Liz" Lucas Carter

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Summerfield. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will be held after the interment.

“Liz” was born in Sampson County, NC to the late James Robert Lucas and Bessie Strickland Lucas. She worked as a data processor at Blue Bell (Wrangler) and later at Guilford Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield where she was a member of the senior Choir. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved bingo, dominoes and bowling.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Mac Carter; daughter Ivy Poole; brother, James Robert Lucas, Jr. and son-in-law Howard “Buddy” Apple. She is survived by her children, Teresa Slater and husband Niels of Jacksonville, NC, Robert Watson Carter and wife Margaret of Greensboro, NC, Kathy Hall and husband Gordon of Gibsonville, NC, Tammy Apple of Summerfield, NC; siblings, Virginia Kelly of Richmond, VA, Robert Allen Lucas and wife Pat of McLeansville, NC; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Summerfield, 2300 Scalesville Road Summerfield, NC 27358 in memory of Elizabeth Lucas Carter.
