

Elizabeth was born in Memphis, TN, on August 14, 1918. She was the daughter of Elvin Jordan Holder and Dr. Eugene Michel Holder. She attended Miss Hutchinson’s School for Girls in Memphis and graduated from Holton Arms School, Washington, DC. She attended Wellesley College, Southwestern College and graduated from Duke University in 1941 with a degree in history.
In 1945, she married Prescott Manning Little. They had five children and lived in Danville, VA, Alexandria, VA, and Greensboro, NC. After raising her children, she received a Master’s degree in Education from UNC-Greensboro and was a teacher in the Greensboro Public Schools for 25 years.
She attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for over 40 years and participated in Church Circle and the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Greensboro Symphony Guild and enjoyed the many symphony and opera concerts she attended. She was an avid genealogist and a member of several genealogical societies including the Jamestown Society, Order of the Descendants of Ancient Planters, and Washington Family Descendants.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, her son Richard Michel Holder Little, and her brothers, Eugene Michel Holder, Jr. and Richard Dudley Holder, both of Memphis. She is survived by her children, Prescott Manning Little, Jr. (Maria) and Joseph Holder Little (Frances) of Charlotte; Elizabeth Little Stevens (Robert) of Durham, NC; Anne Little Woolley (Douglas) of Richmond, VA; and ten grandchildren: Brandon Holder Little and Elise Michel Little; Jane Callaway Little and India Dameron Little; Elizabeth Stevens Detring (Derek), Anne Stevens Cable (Andrew), and Robert Taylor Stevens; Sarah Manning Woolley, Douglas Prescott Woolley and John Holder Woolley; and two great grandchildren, Derek Crane Detring, Jr., and Elizabeth Holder Detring.
There will be a visitation at The Cedars, 100 Cedars Club Circle, Chapel Hill, on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. An Episcopal burial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, at 1:00 P.M. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, NC. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Danville, VA, at 3:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Greensboro, NC.
While time brought its seasons, she was calm, strong, gentle and optimistic. Hers was a wonderful life.
