Frances Beaver Cuthbertson

Ms. Frances “Fran” Beaver Cuthbertson, 93, died at her residence on September 1, 2015. A memorial service will be published at a later date. Fran was born in Winston-Salem to the late William Bunn and Cellia Maie Winberry Beaver. Also preceding Fran are her sister, Anne Helfand and brothers, Guy M. Beaver and Kenneth A. Beaver.

She spent her working life in Hotel Management and truly enjoyed her work and the people she worked with. She started as a secretary at the original O’Henry Hotel in Greensboro where she was one of the first women in the state to be named Assistant Manager. She excelled in her job and held the titles of Marketing, Sales, Operation, and General Managers and consulted in an array of properties throughout the US and the Bahamas. She was the first woman President of the NC and National Hotel Sales and Management Associations. Fran had a long and rewarding career in the hotel business and did not retire until she was 80 years old. Her favorite hotel was the Wilcox Inn in Aiken, SC.

Fran is survived by her brother, W.B. Beavers and wife Mary and sister, Carolyn Campbell both of Greensboro; and nine nieces and nephews.
