Frances DiMartino Frances DiMartino died peacefully on August 26th at Friends Home in Greensboro, NC. She was a loving mother, supportive grandmother and inspiration to all who knew her. Fran was born 94 years ago, in Hempstead, L.I., NY. Fran raised her family in Freeport and Wantagh, L.I., NY. In 1990, Fran moved to Greensboro with her husband of 49 years, Arthur, who died in 1992. Fran achieved her most precious goals in life, "being the best Mother I could possibly be to my two children, Janet and Arthur." Fran was very involved in her local community. Along with her husband, she was a leader in the formation of the Wantagh Little League, active in PTO, and performed with a local theater company, the Salt Box Players. Fran appeared in 'The Emperor's New Clothes' and 'Arsenic and Old Lace.'
Later in life, Fran would not allow her Parkinson's disease to slow her down. She maintained courage to persevere through exercise and prayer. Everyone has been inspired by her determination. Sunday Mass was the focus of her week, in her intentional life of faith and prayer. Fran leaves her two children, Janet Foreman of Greensboro and Arthur ''Buzz'' DiMartino of Weston, MA. Fran will also be deeply missed by her family including Dr. Robert Foreman and Susan DiMartino; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also, the family expresses gratitude to Lynn Drolet, Tony Nally, and caregivers at Friends Home, who gave Fran comfort and dignity in her final days.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Greensboro on Monday, October 10th at 1PM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Fran's memory to: St. Paul the Apostle Church; or Catholic Charities USA.
