

Geneva received her Teacher’s Certificate from Asheville-Normal College. She taught and was librarian at Peoples Bible College in Greensboro and later at John Wesley College (now Laurel University) in High Point until she retired. She was a member of the former First Evangelical Methodist Church in Greensboro. Temple Library at Laurel University is named for her and her late husband, the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Elsworth Temple. After her retirement, Geneva was awarded an honorary doctorate from John Wesley College for her 57 years of faithful service.
She is survived by her half-sister, Martha Cooke and husband Merle of Candler, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, there are literally thousands of students, neighbors and friends who were welcomed as family in her home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Dr. John L. Lindsey and Reverend Dr Brian C. Donley. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
