Mr. Gil Payne Jr., 52, a resident of Greensboro died Wednesday May 31, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Hospital. Mr. Payne was born April 7, 1959 in Greensboro the son of Gilmer Vernon Payne Sr., and Betty Brown Payne. He graduated from Southeast Guilford High School and NC State University. Gil was employed with the US Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Bobbie Hudson Payne and son Nathan Grant Payne both of the home. He is also survived by one sister, Lynn Payne Gardner and husband Brooks of Greensboro; a niece Candice Shoffner and husband Shawn of Liberty and a nephew Cameron Gardner of Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Chuck Halipilias. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Following the interment, there will be a reception and receiving of friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel.
