Grace L. Early

Grace was born on November 1, 1924 in Colquitt, GA, the daughter of Henry G and Ada Howard Lane, Sr. Grace married her loving husband J. Clark on Jan. 2, 1944 in Bainbridge, GA. She worked for a short time as a telephone operator, but when her family started coming, she devoted her life to them. She was a charter member of Lawndale Baptist Church in 1956. She volunteered for 17 years with the Senior Citizens and started the Keen Agers at the church. Grace was a Sunday School teacher and served on various church committees. She was also member of the NC PTA and worked with the PTA as her children went through school.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, J. Clark Early in 2008 and daughter Gwendolyn. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters; Phyllis Willard and husband Jim, Susan DePeri and husband Joe, Linda Phillips and Scotti Early. Six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Lawndale Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Giaritelli and Rev. Marion Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Her life was spent devoted in service to others, always caring and tending to the needs of her children and God’s children alike. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawndale Baptist Senior Adult ministry, 3505 Lawndale Ave., Greensboro, NC 27408 or a memorial gift to the trust fund at any Wells Fargo Bank for Hannah and Lauren McFarland.
