

Ken was born in Nelson County, VA to the late Harry and Bertha R. Roberts.
Ken was a member of Friendly Av Baptist Church and of the Moy Sunday school class. He also attended the John Willett Bible Study for 20 years. One of his favorite bible verses was 2 Timothy 4: 7 & 8, which says,” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, and I have kept the faith.” He owned Ken Roberts & Assoc. for over 25 years where he made many lasting friendships. He served as a medic in the Merchant Marines during World War II and had a strong patriotic love for his country. Ken’s ready smile, quick wit, and infectious laughter affected all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jewell P. Roberts of the home; daughters: Pat Holder and husband Jim of Knoxville TN and Brenda Carmichael and husband Jim of Rockwall, TX; two sons: Glenn Roberts of Orleans, CA and Byron Haddock and wife Lori of Greensboro; and a sister Iris McKay and husband “Chubby” of Baltimore, MD; eight grandchildren: David, Samuel, Stephen and John Holder, Trip and Brandon Carmichael , and Ben and Kate Haddock, and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Hanes Lineberry N. Elm St. Chapel.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Patrick Cronin officiating. Burial will follow in Westminster Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, 4 Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27401, or to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 4800 W. Friendly Av, Greensboro, NC 27410.
