

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Adrian Harris officiating.
Mrs. Carter was affectionately known as “Nannie” to her family. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. She was retired from Western Electric and was a member of the Pioneers of America. She enjoyed gardening flowers and vegetables, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family especially at the beach where she moved to at age 70. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh William Cox, Sr. and Elsie Crouse Cox, her husband of 47 years, Charles B. Carter, their daughter, Carolyn C. Kinney and brothers, R. W. “Dub” Cox, Jr., Billy F. Cox, James C. Cox, and Bobby G. Cox.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her children, Jewel C. Rainey (Virgil) of Greensboro, Gary Wayne Carter of Garden City, SC, Brenda C. Dowell (David) of Lexington, SC, sister-in-law, Shirley Corrine Cox of Greensboro, son-in-law, Jerry B. Kinney of Myrtle Beach, SC, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Blumenthal’s Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to the nurses of Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
