She was born on December 11, 1922 in Randolph County, NC, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Alma Underwood Jarrett. Her greatest times were those she could share with her family and she always enjoyed doing things for them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Iola was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest C. Spencer in 1999. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving children; William C. Spencer and wife Eva (Bitsy) of Greensboro, NC, Jeannie Davis of Reidsville, NC, Elaine Gardner and husband Mike of Huntersville, NC, Nancy Brewer and husband Junior of Carolina Beach, NC, Timmy Spencer and wife Donna of Greensboro, NC and Denny Spencer and wife Julie of Climax, NC; brother, O’Neal Jarrett of Greensboro, NC; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
