

James William Grubbs, 81, a resident of Brown Summit passed away on Monday May 5, 2025, at Moses H. Cone Health Center. He was born December 4, 1943, in Greensboro, the son of Aubrey Lee and Marguerite Causey Grubbs.
James was a member of the last graduating class from Alamance High School. An accomplished welder and mechanic; he worked with the Coca Cola Co. in Greensboro for 17 years and later worked for 24 years with the Miller Brewing Co. in Eden before he retired. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Korea.
He loved feeding the birds and squirrels and then watched them from his sunroom as they ate and played about.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warren Grubbs, Tom Grubbs; a sister-in-law, Brenda Grubbs and a brother-in-law, Tom Denny.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Piller Grubbs of the home; one daughter, Janie Grubbs of Archdale; one son, Chris Grubbs of Sistersville, VA; two step-sons, James Scruggs and wife Audrey of Axton, VA, Michael Scruggs of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Dorothy G. Denny of Greensboro, Louise G. Perry and husband Jack of Randleman; sister-in-law, Mary Grubbs of Greensboro; five brothers, Wayne Grubbs and wife LuVerne of Climax, Harry Grubbs and wife Carol of Climax, David Grubbs and wife Nita of Julian, Tim Grubbs of Climax, Larry Grubbs and wife Pam of Climax and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 10, 2025, at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Pastor Nick McCorquodale. Military Honors will be accorded by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Friday May 9, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of James to the American Heart Association.
