

Services will be held at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel on Thursday, June 5th at 2:00 pm with his Pastor, Rev. Todd Crum officiating. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
A native of Guilford County, he was born on July 19, 1925 to the late Cecil W. Kivett and Blanche Wilson Kivett. He has been a resident of this area all his life and was a member of Stevens Memorial Baptist Church. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the US Navy. He was presented the French Medal of Honor on Veterans Day in 2013 for his service at the Battle of Normandy on D Day. He retired from the US Post Office, was a member of Revolution Masonic Lodge 552 and attained his 32 degree in Scottish Rite. He was a member of the American Legion, and a lifetime member of VFW. He enjoyed many hobbies including working in stained glass, gardening, and blue grass music.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carl and Don Kivett, and great grandchild, Chad Williford. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Kennedy Kivett; children, Elaine K. Williford and husband Joe of Jamestown and James William Kivett and wife Janyce of Greensboro; grandchildren, Allen Williford (Cameron); Jon Williford (Renae); Jodi Traen (Jeff); Philip Kivett (Kristi); and Amanda Kivett (Chuck Lee); great grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Noah, and Chloe Williford, Jordan and Matthew Traen, Victoria Lee, Gray, Brooke and Matt Steadman; sister, Rebecca Ann Turner and husband Jim; brother-in-law Curtis Kennedy and sisters-in-law Marie Strickland and Evelyn Kivett; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many neighbors whom he loved as family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their kindness and care during his illness with special thanks to his nurse, Mary and Chaplain, Beverly.

Visitation is at 1:00 pm followed by the service in the Chapel at 2:00 pm.
