Revell was born on May 19, 1933, in Draper, NC, the son of Homer and Lillian Morrison. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham, where he loved teaching the Philemon Sunday school Class.
He played freshman football at Clemson University and transferred to play at Elon University. After graduation from Elon, he entered the workforce at Western Electric. He taught Math for 3 years at Haw River High School. At that point, he moved his family to Greensboro. He was in uniform sales for 8 years and then worked for Wang Labs. He introduced mini computers to Math Labs in NC Universities and Engineering Schools in the late 1960s. He was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in his late 20s and forced him to disability in the early 1970s.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 10 years, Betty Thomas Morrison of the home; her children Lee (Mitze) and Donna Thomas, her grandchildren Melissa(Brad)Martin and their son, Katie(Mitch) Morock, and Will Thomas.
Revell is also survived by his own 3 daughters, 2 sons and their spouses: Karen M and Mike Arney, Kathy M and Richard Cornelius, Karla M and Gene Yates, James Revell Jr(Jim) and Debra Morrison, and Gregory Bruce Morrison. He adored his 9 grandchildren their spouses and his great grand daughters: Carley and Brian Mann and their 3 daughters, Daniel and Lauren Arney, Alexandria Arney, Amanda Arney, Will Cornelius, Kristin Yates, Michael Yates, Rachel and Matt Hunsucker, and Matthew Morrison.
Family was very important to Revell. He believed in standing together to face the good and the bad in life. He was sentimental and compassionate for those who were less fortunate and those who served our country as soldiers. He enjoyed reading and studying the bible, telling a good joke, and recounting an anecdote from his past. He always remembered those that he loved with birthday cards and his own special touch of wisdom. He was extremely proud of the fine young people that his grandchildren have become.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Marvis Murphy Morrison. She was his high school sweetheart and she dedicated her life to him and their five children. Also preceding him were Revell’s brothers: Ralph and Millard Morrison; and his second wife Maryanne Blevins Morrison.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Home of Alamance County for their loving care and support. They made Jim’s last days comfortable. We are truly grateful.
Revell asked that any donations on his behalf be made to the Starfish Ministry at his church or to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
