

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jeanette A. Brown of Greensboro, N.C. She passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025 at the age of 80. She was born April 2, 1945 in Lumberton, N.C. to parents Clara Wilkins Atkinson and Gonslee Atkinson.
She grew up in Rockingham, N.C. and graduated from Rockingham High School in 1963. She attended Wingate College in Wingate, N.C. and later attended UNC-Charlotte where she received a degree in Education. She taught school in both Statesville N.C. and Greensboro, N.C.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her father, Gonslee Atkinson, mother, Clara Atkinson, brother, Wayne Atkinson, brother-in laws, George Glenn and Steve Breece, and nephew Steve Glenn.
She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) Brown; her son, David Brown (partner Kayla Oakley) of Greensboro, NC; grandson, Grayson Ramos; sisters, Janice Glenn, Rockingham, NC, Cheryl Jenkins (Danny), Waynesboro, VA, Pamela Breece (Mike Brown) Oak Ridge, NC; brother-in-law Alan Brown (Carol); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved German Shepherd, Maggie.
Jeanette had a way of making anyone and everyone feel like family. She was confident, fun loving, and enthusiastically supportive of friends and family. Time spent with her was almost always guaranteed to be fun and full of laughter. She also had enthusiasm for learning new things and was very adept at teaching herself new skills. Over the years she enjoyed hobbies such as knitting, drawing portraits, and gardening. Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will forever be missed and remembered for her enthusiasm for life.
A Memorial Service for Jeanette will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 17, 2025 at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
