Jeanette Gold Mitchell, 86, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Novant Medical Center in Huntersville, North Carolina. Jeanette “Jan” was born on August 3, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Benjamin and Louise Gold.
Jan was happiest when near the ocean. She and her beloved husband Bill retired to the Myrtle Beach area where they made their home for many years. They spent endless hours walking the beach searching for sharks’ teeth and playing with their ever-present dachshunds Schnoz and Buddy. Friends and family would gather at their home for block parties, crab feasts, and beach vacations. The memories of these special times at the beach with her beloved Bill sustained her and brought her hope for the day that they would be reunited.
Jan is survived by her brother, Howard Gold, and her children, Karen McKay, Laurie Fogleman, Keith Fogleman, Lynne Reinstadtler, and Michael Mitchell. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 31 years, Billy Eugene Mitchell; brother, Jerry Arthur Gold; sister, Karen Gold Quijalvo, and stepson William Desmond Mitchell.
The family will receive friends Monday, February 21, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Chapel, 515 North Elm Street, Greensboro. The family respectfully requests that all visitors be fully vaccinated and masked.
There will be a private interment service for immediate family members only at Westminster Gardens 3601 Whitehurst Road Greensboro, NC 27410. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the SPCA OF THE TRIAD, triadspca.org.
