Jerry C. Messick, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Hanes Lineberry Vanstory Chapel at 2:00 pm with Dr. Charles H. Howell and Rev. Dale Riddle. Family visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm.

Jerry was born in Harmony North Carolina to the late Clyde Holmes and Evie Shoemaker Messick. He was a US Navy Veteran. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, having owned several businesses, including United Metal Finishing.

He was a charter member of Parkway Baptist church, and then a member of Speedwell Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Gideons, and a Scout Master, which he loved. He finished the Dale Carnegie course, and was asked to help teach future programs.

He enjoyed buying and selling real estate, he loved hunting, fishing and mowing the grass.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Rosella Voyles Messick; children, Cindy Maness (Eddie) of Brown Summit, Jerry C. Messick, Jr. (Suzanne) of Julian, and Diane Messick (Debbie) of Reidsville; grandchildren, Karen Apple, Gary Maness, Leann Yow, Kenneth Messick and Lori Meyers; great grandchildren Katelyn Apple, Mason Apple, Logan Apple, Lainey Apple, Carson Yow, Blake Yow, Cameron Maness and Lilly Messick; sister, Wilma Mann and sister-in-law Anita Voyles.
