Jesse Maria Perez

Mr. Perez was born April 10, 1925 in Alamo, TX, the son of Alonzo and Abelina Gonzales Perez. He was a former long distance truck driver and retired as a City Bus Driver with Duke Power Transit where he was known as “Mr. Jesse”. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army, 95th Infantry, better known as the “Iron Men of Metz”.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Flora Mae King Perez on June 10, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judith Mae Walker; one sister, Mary Ann Natal and two brothers, Ramon and Mike Perez.

Surviving is his daughter, Leanne Walters and husband James of Greensboro; two sisters, Juanita Hernadez and Rosario “Chala” Barrera both of TX; three grandchildren, Jesse Hembree, Deana Pelfrey and husband James, Andrew Blackburn and six great grandchildren, Kelly Shepherd, Jessica Pelfrey, Anna Young, Alyssa Young, Andrew D. Blackburn and Wyatt Blackburn.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel. Interment with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m
