Jimmy Anthony Humphries

Jim was born to Helen Zambellis Humphries and Coy Albert Humphries in Durham, North Carolina, May 15, 1947. He was a graduate of Northern High School class of 1965.

After graduating high school Jim served in the United States Air Force for 4 years before continuing back to North Carolina to complete his education and graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in Agronomy. His life long career was growing grass. He served as a Golf Course Superintendent and Course Advisor to several Golf Courses as well as local High School athletic fields in area. He continued his career in 1995 with his own business. Jim was both a licensed Landscape and Irrigation Contractor. He was also a member of Gate City Masonic Lodge # 694.

He is preceded in death by his oldest son Jimmy A Humphries, and his parents Helen and Coy. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl Rogers Humphries, brother John Thomas Humphries and wife Joan, son Gregory Thomas Humphries and wife Shannon, nephew Jason Humphries, stepson Richard (Ricky) Stanley and wife Kristi, stepdaughter, Johnna Stanley Lintz and husband Wes. Grandchildren Madison Marie Humphries, Kelsie Stewart and husband Ricky, Kyle Stanley, Jared Lintz and wife Nikki, Justin Lintz, Sam Wright, Phillip Stanley and great grandchildren, Alayna, Johnathon, Harley, and Willow.

A memorial service will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, t2t.org
