Jinny H. Murphy, 75, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Jinny was born on November 7, 1942, in Abington, PA., the daughter of James and Ruby Foden Beidler. Tragically, Ruby was widowed before Jinny was born. Ruby later married Walton M Henry, who became a loving father to Jinny. She attended Cedar Crest College in PA and married her husband, James J Murphy shortly thereafter. Jinny and Jim moved to North Carolina in the summer of 1977 with their three children. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, and was a talented decorator. She was an active member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and for many years volunteered to maintain the Columbarium gardens. Jinny also volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels in Jamestown, served in the Cedarwood Garden Club as a member and past President, and was a member of the Jim Trollinger Disciple Bible Study.
A follower of Christ, Jinny, or “Gigi” as she was fondly referred to, was most interested in spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many in addition to owning the Murphy Group. Her humor and compassion will be remembered and missed by all.
Jinny was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Murphy III in 1999. Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Wendie Murphy Cousins of Greensboro, NC, Jill Murphy Tweedy and husband Dale of Mooresville, NC, Ryan James Murphy of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Sarah and Hannah Cousins, Tanner and Chase Tweedy, Fiona Murphy; step-mother, Edna Henry; sisters, Susan Kolbo of Grand Island, NE, Barbara Rooney and husband John of Medford, NJ, Kimberly A. and Linda H. Henry of North Wales, PA numerous nieces and nephews, and her loving friend and companion of 13 years, Joseph J. .Stahl.
A Celebration of Jinny’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 6th at Jamestown United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
