

Joan Grant Finnegan passed away on June 26th 2021 surrounded by her loving family following a year long struggle with cancer. Before her passing she received anointing and last rights by Father Coleman of Our Lady of Grace Church.
The family will be receiving family and friends 6:00PM-8:00PM Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Hanes Lineberry, 515 North Elm Street. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church, 2203 West Market Street, at 2:00PM Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Joan was born in Bayside, NY on November 21st, 1958. Joan is preceded in death by her loving parents William and Helen Grant. She attended Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School for eight years, and graduated from Bayside High School in 1976. She married her husband Dennis in 1979 and remained married until her passing.
Joan began her career with Burlington Industries in New York in Sales and marketing, before taking time off to raise her family. Joan and her family moved to North Carolina in 1994 and made Greensboro their new home. As her children grew up, she returned to the workforce and began her career in insurance at Robins and Weill Associates. She then spent many years at Craft Insurance Company before recently being recruited by Pinnacle Bank to be their commercial lines manager.
Joan leaves behind husband Dennis and three children; Lindsay, Lauren Harris (Taite), and Michael along with her two grandchildren, Beckham and Maddox; all the loves of her life. Joan is survived by her two older siblings; Brian Grant (Patti) and Carol Campanella (John) as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Joan’s loving family took such great care of her which allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home during her illness. The family is grateful for Hospice who aided in her final weeks. Special thanks to her cousin Jeanette and sister-in-law Sharon who helped the family through this difficult period. Also, to her family and friends who sent notes, meals, and special thoughts.
Although she will be greatly missed, her memory will be held closely in the hearts of all those she touched.
