Thinking of you. Always. Glad to see the Raspberry Swan happened.

My dearest brother,
I've been remembering all the silly things we did growing up. How we would play beautiful music on the 'window sill' keyboards, daddy would have the inner tubes from the big tires from the coal mines and I'd climb onto the tube and you'd roll me all over the yard. Oh my was that ever fun. Remember the fried pies you'd make while mom and daddy were gone to St. Louis? That one time in particular, the hot grease popped all over the kitchen wall. We were caught. How many times did mom or I hide and scare you as you came down the stairs. One time I recall quite well you came hurrying down the stairs, with shoes in hand and mom said boo, you hollered, threw your shoes and they hit moms glasses and knocked them off her face. Remember the 'this is your life' show you had for mom and dad? Yes, you helped plan my wedding..which no one thought would last. We almost made it to 50 years!!  You did visit us while we lived in Japan and Spain. You took mom on a whirl wind train ride through Europe. You came to see us in Omaha several times as well. On one occasion, you purchased lots of red peppers and we made pimentos from them. Oh that was fun. Remember the time I was bowling in Charlotte and you came to see me. You cheered on my team. I enjoyed that so much. There were the daily e-mails I would get at work. I knew I'd always hear from you when I got back to the office after lunch. Once I retired, we weren't in touch near as often. My Tony was diagnosed with cancer and my time was devoted to him. Perhaps you are sharing a cup of Java with him now. Even though we hadn't communicated much lately, I thought of you often. My last message I got from you was at Thanksgiving. I still have it. I will miss you. Rest peacefully now. Love you.

I remember you in 70 or 71 when we were in Japan and you were flying the Red Cross birds out of Vietnam.  Funny, boisterous and full of life. Always with a jar of jalapenos!
In 83 I spent my HS senior year spring break with you and the nurses in White River Jct.  I took/taught you skiing on the lawn in front of your big white house, then to Pico where you never turned not one time!  Swoosh you went straight as an arrow past the lodge and into the parking lot, then fell over and declared you were done.  Left your ski's and boots in the parking lot!  One morning we went to the "store" and when you fell asleep I drove us to Montreal.  You had a fit when you woke as we got to the border and laughed all the rest of the way, then I drove us back in the blizzard while you cussed like a sailor with your eyes closed.  In 85 I remember you visiting Omaha and I made us daiquiri's with really cheap vodka till 4am, certain that no one in the house heard the blender (ummm, yes they did).  My dad got me up at 9am to split a chord of wood, after feeding me the most greasiest biscuits and gravy mom ever made.  You got to sleep in.  When my head stopped pounding we laughed about it for years.  
In the 90's, I visited and we toured around Vermont and New Hampshire in a limo, standing out the roof, howling to the stars like we owned the world.  No one does, but we owned the moment.  Moments that make up a memory, memories that make up life experiences.  We had fewer memories the last 20 years, but I want you to know I treasure fondly our memories.  I will miss my Dear Uncle Joe.
