Bladel, John Patrick, Sr.

John Patrick Bladel, Sr., 94, died peacefully at Hospice of the Piedmont on November 8, 2024. He was born October 27, 1930, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Edgar Roderick and Mary Ann Noonan Bladel.
John graduated from Notre Dame University in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Then John earned his MBA at the University of Miami. After working for Prudential Insurance and Thompson McKinnon Brokers, John had a twenty-eight-year career as a professor in the business department of Florida Community College at Jacksonville. He enjoyed reading, following the financial and political scenes, and cheering on the Notre Dame football team. He was a devoted husband and father.
John was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Mary Ann Bladel and his sister Mary Lee Walter. He is survived by his wife Dianne and son John, Jr., of Greensboro. He is also survived by his nieces Marilyn Askins of Elida, Ohio, Christine Walter of Richwood, Ohio, and nephews William (Susan) Walter of Lima, Ohio and Patrick Walter of Lima, Ohio.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday Novmber 21, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
