John Martin Forken was born on June 26, 1968 to John and Christine Forken in Rochester, New York. Growin’ up in Webster with his younger siblings Beth and Doug, Marty played sports, developed a love for music, and threw a party or two. In his glory days at Webster High School, Marty met his high school sweetheart, Lynda Marie Sirianni, whom he married September 12, 1992. Attending Bucknell University, Marty studied Business and joined Sigma Phi Epsilon before taking a job at Harvey Research, where he spent thirty-one years.
While living and raising his family in Penfield, NY, Marty could be found hiking the Thousand Acre Swap, golfing with friends and family, camping in the Finger Lakes region, coaching his kid’s sports teams and keeping score at the Red Wings games at Silver Stadium/Frontier Field, where he didn’t miss an Opening Day for nearly thirty years, rain or snow. After moving to the Rochester East End, Marty and Lynda spent their weekends exploring the downtown neighborhoods, enjoying Jazz Fest from their front porch, and soaking up the Flour City.
Marty, a four-time Masters Champion, is best known for catching twenty-foot bass deep in the Atlantic, dancing with wolves, and coaching his beloved Buffalo Bills to a 2023 Super Bowl Championship.
He is survived and loved by his wife Lynda, children Jake and Jamie, parents John and Chris, siblings Beth (Mike, Zach, and Noah Ehret) and Doug (Adrienne, Adia, and Dakota Forken), as well as his cats Baller and Beasley; Marty is predeceased by his grandparents (John and Marion Forken, Martin and Mary Hutton). The entire Forken and Sirianni family remember him for his positivity, sarcasm, sense of humor, and keeping it real.
In 2018, Marty and Lynda moved their home to North Carolina, where he continued to kick cancer’s ass with grace and fish into the eternal sunset.
A celebration of life will be at 1:05 PM, Saturday, May 14, 2022 in Club 3000 at Frontier Field, Rochester, NY.
