John, better known as JC, was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a trusted friend and advisor to any who asked. He was a prominent member of the business community, involved in various civic organizations, and was active in local, state, and national politics. He grew up on a farm, had a strong work ethic and a deep love for the land and all animals.
At the age of 93, he was preceded in death by a son, John Curtis Hawkins II; his first wife, Betty Sue Cole Hawkins; and his second wife, Coleen Overton Hawkins.
He is survived by his best friend, Dusty; his brother, Carroll; his son, John Michael (wife, Anne and their sons Matt, Tyler (wife, Alexis, and their sons, Gavin and Camden and daughters, Layne and Harper), Adam (wife, Amber and their sons, Emmett and Chandler); daughters, Debi (husband Byron and fur babies Beamer and Stardust) and Teresa (husband, Eric and daughters, Jessica (husband, Joe and their daughters, AnneMarie and Everleigh), Emily, and Hannah (husband, Jacob and their sons, Andrew and Jay) as well as numerous other family, friends, and business associates.
He leaves behind him a torrent of tears of joy and sorrow so vast it could possibly flood the world. He lived well, loved well, and was well loved. A public celebration of his extraordinary life will be announced at a later date.
