John was a graduate of Ragsdale High School and attended Mitchell College in Statesville. He enjoyed a 35-year career as a sales representative for several insurance agencies over the course of his career including Jefferson Pilot, Western-Southern and Monumental Life Insurance.
John was an immensely talented golfer who spent his early years playing and competing in many local tournaments. He enjoyed the opportunity to caddy for Dave Stockton and offer golf lessons to new and upcoming golfers throughout his life. One of his proudest moments was when he won the Greensboro City Pro/Am tournament in 1968. His success within the sport totaled him a wonderful collection of trophies of over 30 displayed not only in his home but at Ragsdale High School as well.
He was happily married for 46 years to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sandra Chandler Ingold, who preceded him in death on October 25, 2015. He was also preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved sister, Sharon Ingold Phillips.

John Ingold lived his life with purpose, kindness and an endless love for his family. Our best memories will be of his humor, his vibrant personality and his ability to offer sound advice while simultaneously leaving you with a laugh and a smile on your heart. John always wanted the best for his family and would not rest until everyone felt loved and had what they needed for success.
