John William Vestal

He was the son of the late Walter Hampton Vestal, Sr and Jewell Goode Vestal.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty V. Highfill and a brother, W. H. Vestal, Jr.

Johnny is survived by two sisters: Susan Snyder (husband Colin) and Lisa Hodges (husband John); 9 nieces and nephews; and 9 great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the North Elm Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will follow the service.

Johnny was a graduate of Greensboro Senior High, class of 1961.

He was a member of Christ Community Church and Spears YMCA.

Johnny enjoyed gardening, swimming, watching old movies, spending time at the beach, and fishing.

The family wants to thank the staff at Wesley Long Hospital for their love and support during Johnny’s illness. And a special thank you to two of his nurses, Carol and Fred, and to his doctors, Dr. Shadad and Dr. Perini.
